Your site first goes live on a Ulakom subdomain (yournews.ulakom.com). You can connect your own domain at any time.
Where do I add the domain?
- Go to Websites at the bottom left and click Manage on the site card.
- Open Subscription in the site menu and scroll to the Domain section at the bottom (“Connect a custom domain to your site”).
- Click Manage Domain, add your domain and follow the steps on screen.
Once connected, the domain appears in the same section marked Connected.
Which method?
| Domain type | Method | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| yournews.com and www.yournews.com | Nameserver | Replace the DNS servers at your domain provider with the two addresses shown on screen |
| news.yoursite.com | CNAME | Add a single CNAME record at your provider |
Nameserver method (root domain)
- Two nameserver addresses unique to you are shown on screen.
- In your domain provider’s panel (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.), replace the nameservers / DNS servers with these two addresses.
- Return to the dashboard; the status is checked automatically and your site goes live once the domain is active.
Records already in your domain’s DNS (email, verification records, other subdomains) are kept. You manage them under profile menu → Settings → My domains. See My domains and DNS.
CNAME method (subdomain)
Add this record in your domain provider’s DNS management:
| Type | Name | Target |
|---|---|---|
| CNAME | news (your subdomain) | dns.ulakom.com |
The SSL certificate is issued automatically; you don’t need to do anything else.
Tip
DNS changes take from a few minutes up to 24 hours to propagate. During that time it’s normal for some visitors to see the old address and others the new one.
No domain yet?
You can buy a domain in the dashboard: profile menu → Settings → My domains. DNS for a domain bought this way is set up automatically.
Common problems
It’s been over 24 hours and the domain is still pending
Make sure the nameservers are entered exactly and the old nameservers are fully removed. Some providers also require you to confirm the change.
I’m migrating my site, what happens to my old URLs?
During migration, old URLs are redirected to the new ones with a 301. See migrate your site.
Will my email stop working?
No. Your existing MX records are kept. After setup, check that they appear under Settings → My domains.
Tip
After connecting your domain, introduce your site to Google: connect Search Console.
