How much do news sites make?
A news site's revenue depends mostly on monthly page views and ad RPM. RPM is revenue per 1,000 page views; the basic AdSense revenue formula is page views ÷ 1,000 × RPM.
Besides programmatic ads, direct sales to local advertisers, sponsored content and paid memberships are important ways to make money from a news site.
This calculator brings all your revenue sources together and shows net profit if you enter your costs. Results are estimates; actual revenue depends on your ad network and market conditions.

Enter your monthly page views.
- 2
Enter the RPM from your ad dashboard or pick a preset.

News site revenue FAQ
AdSense revenue is roughly monthly page views ÷ 1,000 × page RPM. For example, 500K monthly page views at a $1 RPM is about $500. RPM varies by reader country, season and ad placement.
Revenue depends on monthly page views, ad RPM and extra sources like direct ads, sponsored content and memberships. For example, 1 million page views at a $1 RPM is about $1,000 a month from programmatic ads.
RPM (revenue per mille) is ad revenue per 1,000 page views. You can see it as page RPM in your ad dashboard.
Turkey's ad market pays less per impression and click than markets like the US or Europe, which makes extra sources such as direct ads and sponsored content important.
Besides programmatic ads, direct sales to local advertisers, sponsored content, official notices (for eligible sites in Türkiye) and memberships are the most common revenue sources.
Speeding up pages, bringing readers back with web push and newsletters, measuring and optimizing ad slots and selling direct ads are the most effective ways.
