See SEO featuresWhy does an SEO title check matter?
Your headline is the first thing readers see in search results, Google Discover and social media. If it's too long, Google cuts it; if the keyword is at the end, the important part may not show. An SEO title checker catches these issues before you publish.
The tool measures whether your title fits in Google by real pixel width, not character count, and shows Google (SERP preview), Discover and social card previews. Keyword position, word count, clickbait phrases and meta description length are scored too.
A good headline tells the story accurately and stands out in search; the score is a guide to help you strike that balance.
How to use the SEO title checker
- 1
Type your headline and meta description if you have one.
- 2
Add your focus keyword and site name.
- 3
Review the Google, Discover and social previews and apply the tips to raise your score.
How is the score calculated?
- Length (30 points): Google desktop results cut titles at about 580 pixels; your headline is measured in pixels using Arial 20px.
- Keyword (25 points): the focus keyword appears in the headline and within the first 30 characters.
- Word count (15 points): 6–14 words that explain the story clearly.
- Trust (15 points): all caps, multiple exclamation marks and clickbait phrases lower the score.
- Meta description (15 points): a description of 110–160 characters.
- The score is a guide; the best headline is one that tells readers the story accurately and clearly.
Headline and SEO FAQ
Seeing how your title looks in search results lets you fix cut-off or confusing headlines before publishing, which directly affects click-through rate.
On Google desktop, titles are cut by pixel width rather than character count, roughly 55–65 characters. Putting key words first keeps the meaning even if it's cut.
Titles that don't fit are truncated. Google may also show a different title if it thinks yours doesn't reflect the page content well.
Headlines that spark curiosity without misleading, plus large high-quality images, stand out in Discover. Clickbait can hurt Discover visibility.
It isn't a direct ranking factor but it affects click-through rate in search results. A clear 110–160 character summary is recommended.
Headlines that don't deliver raise bounce rates, erode trust and can hurt visibility in Google News and Discover.
