# Page templates: story, category, author and other pages

> Change the layout of story, column, category, author, contact, video and search pages in the design editor.

Every page type on your site has a **template**. When you change a template, all pages of that type (e.g. every story) change at once. The header and footer are shared by all templates.

## Choosing a template

Click the page picker in the design editor’s top bar (e.g. **Home Page ▾**) and choose the template to edit:

| Story Detail | Every story’s page |
| Column Article | Column article pages |
| Category Page | Category listing pages |
| Static Page | Pages such as About us and Imprint |
| Author Page | Author profile and posts |
| Authors | List of all authors |
| Contact | Contact page and form |
| Video Gallery / Video Detail | Video list and single video page |
| Search Page | Search results |
| Breaking News | Timeline and live feed |

Block-based editing for some templates (e.g. Business Directory, Breaking News) is **coming soon**; on these pages you can edit the header and footer for now.

## Template areas

Template pages list their areas in the left panel: **Page Top** (full width above the sidebar), **Main Content**, **Sidebar** and **Page Bottom**. Each area has **+ Add**. Select a block and use the **→ Page Top / → Sidebar / → Page Bottom / → Main Content** buttons on its toolbar to move it to another area.

## Page layout and settings

Click **Page layout and settings** in the left panel:

- **Page layout:** **With sidebar** (main content + sidebar), **Single column** (centered) or **Magazine** (single column, no sidebar).
- **Sidebar:** Position **Left** or **Right**; width 25%, 30% or 33%.
- **Page features:** Show read count, Comments on, Auto-advance to the next story at the end of the page.

## Story Detail template

Blocks in Main Content (reorder with the arrows): **Breadcrumb, Story title, Summary (standfirst), Author & info bar, Feature image, Engagement bar** (Follow on Google, comments, Share), **Table of contents, Story text, Tags, Comments**. By default the Sidebar has **Most read ranking** and Page Bottom has **4-column category cards**.

- **Story title:** Size (Small, Medium, Large, Extra large), alignment (Left, Center), show category badge.
- **Author & info bar:** Design (Bar, Card, Compact, Centered); show author image, name, publish date, read and comment counts; **Image ring** (Instagram-style story ring or plain ring).
- **Feature image:** Aspect ratio (16:9, 16:10, 4:3, Original), show photo caption, rounded corners.
- **Story text:** Font size (Normal, Large) and line spacing (Tight, Relaxed, Wide).
- **Comments:** Block frame and colors. Turning comments on or off is managed in **Page layout and settings**.

## Column Article template

Similar to Story Detail, plus an **Author card** (photo, bio and “All posts” link) in Main Content and **Author’s other posts** in the Sidebar.

## Category Page template

- **Category title (H1)** and **List and page settings:** the **Story list** layout (Card grid, Timeline, Editorial list, Compact list, Mosaic grid, Showcase + grid) and the **List title**.
- **Showcase (Headline)** area: the showcase at the top of the page, e.g. **Showcase grid cards** (2–6 columns, number of stories, summary, card height, category filter) or a **Full-width slider** (number of stories, slide height, auto-advance time).
- **Sidebar** and **Page Bottom:** e.g. Most read or an **Ad / Sponsor slot**.

### Ad / Sponsor slot block

**Upload** an image or choose it from **Library**, then enter the **Image description (alt text)** and **Target URL**. Options include **Open in new tab** and **Mark as sponsored link** (tells search engines it’s a paid link; recommended). Set the size, aspect ratio (16:9, 21:9, 3:1, 4:1, 6:1 thin strip), image placement, corners, border and shadow. For all ad slots see [ad slots](https://ulakom.com/md/en/help/ads/ad-slots.md).

## Author Page template

The Top Area has the **Author profile card** (design: Card, Centered, Plain; role tag, bio, social media, stats); Main Content has **Author’s column articles** and **Author’s stories**. Name, photo, bio and social links come from each author’s own profile (profile menu → **Settings → Profile**).

## Contact template

Main Content: **Contact title, Contact details, Contact form**. In Contact details choose the design (Cards / List) and enter the **address, phone, email and WhatsApp tip line**; empty fields use the footer details. Messages from the form arrive in **Inbox** in the dashboard. See [inbox](https://ulakom.com/md/en/help/engagement/inbox.md).

## Video Gallery and Search templates

- **Video Gallery:** Video title, Featured video, Video categories and **Video grid** (2, 3 or 4 columns; up to 36 videos).
- **Search Page:** Search title and box, Search results; **Show sidebar** option.

> **Tip:** The preview is drawn with a sample story; your changes apply to all real stories. Don’t forget to click **Publish**.
