# Publish your newspaper as an e-newspaper on your news site

> Publish e-newspapers on your news site: your paper's PDF issues read with page flips, your paper leads Newspaper Headlines, and every issue is SEO-friendly.

E-Newspaper is a built-in feature of your Ulakom news site. Upload the print-ready PDF from your news site's dashboard and your paper goes live with page flips on the same site as your news. On the Newspaper Headlines page, your own paper comes first with its latest cover, ahead of national papers.

## Highlights

## Your news site and your newspaper under one roof

Your paper's digital edition becomes a section of your news site; readers go from today's news to today's issue in one click.

- **Page-flip e-newspaper:** Pages turn like a real newspaper; double pages on wide screens, single pages on phones.
- **First on Newspaper Headlines:** Your site's newspaper leads the Newspaper Headlines page with its latest cover; national papers follow.
- **An SEO-friendly URL per issue:** Every issue has its own URL, title, description and structured data; text extracted from the PDF is readable on the page.
- **Issue archive:** Earlier issues are listed with covers on the archive shelf; readers reach any past issue in one click.
- **Sharing and download control:** Readers share issues on social networks and by email; turn PDF downloads on or off per issue.
- **Reading analytics:** Track views, visitors, reading time and traffic sources for every issue.

## What is an e-newspaper and how do you take a paper digital?

An e-newspaper is the print-ready PDF of a newspaper published online. For local and regional papers, it is the easiest way to reach readers without a distribution network, keep a permanent archive and make the paper visible in search.

On Ulakom, the e-newspaper works as a feature of your news site; you don't set up a separate site or platform. Upload each new issue from your news site's dashboard; the cover is created automatically, the issue goes live at its own URL on your news site, and your paper appears first on the Newspaper Headlines page.

Your paper's identifier is generated from your site name. Even if you don't use the national headlines module, your newspaper page stays live and lists only your paper.

**For local newspapers**

- Reach readers beyond your distribution area
- A permanent digital archive of print issues
- Each issue is its own page in search
- Easy for readers to share
- Reading analytics per issue

## What's ready in the e-newspaper?

From uploading an issue to search engines, every step is automatic.

- **Newspaper Headlines page:** Your paper leads the list, followed by other papers and a link to all papers.
- **Reader toolbar:** Page number, thumbnails, zoom, full screen, single / double page and sharing.
- **Newspaper text:** Text extracted from the PDF appears in a collapsible section on the issue page.
- **Sitemap:** The headlines page, your newspaper page and every issue are added to the sitemap automatically.
- **Permanent redirects:** Deleted or renamed issues redirect to the archive; no 404s.
- **API support:** List, create, update and delete issues via the API.

## A new issue in three steps

1. **Upload the PDF:** In the dashboard, open E-Newspaper → New issue and drop in today's PDF.
2. **Set the date:** Enter the issue name (e.g. 6 October 2026) and publish date; cover and page count are ready.
3. **Publish:** The new issue becomes your paper's cover on Newspaper Headlines; earlier issues stay in the archive.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need a separate site or app for an e-newspaper?

No. E-Newspaper is a built-in feature of your Ulakom news site; your paper is published inside your news site, on your own domain. No separate site, app, flipbook tool or extra fee is needed.

### Where does my paper appear on Newspaper Headlines?

At the top of the list, with your latest cover. National papers are listed after it.

### I don't use national headlines. Does it still work?

Yes. With the national newspaper module off, your newspaper page is still live and lists only your paper.

### How do readers find past issues?

All issues are listed with covers in the archive and each has a permanent URL. Deleted or renamed issues redirect to the archive.

### Can I turn off PDF downloads?

Yes, per issue. With downloads off, the paper can still be read in the reader but the PDF cannot be downloaded.

### Can I upload a scanned newspaper PDF?

Yes. The reader works fine, but text cannot be extracted from scanned PDFs, so the "Newspaper text" section is not shown.
